‘SAIM FEST’ or ‘South Asian Indie Music Festival’ is a two-day music festival with two indie artists on each day to showcase and celebrate south asian talent. The goal was to build an engaging community on the foundation of shared love for indie music.

The hand drawn logotype and tiger illustration was inspired by the hand painted compositions on trucks/lorry that run on the roads of south asian countries- the bright colours, geometrical compositions/layouts, paintings of animals used for storytelling and symbolism.

I did some 2D/3D animation during my undergrad which helped a lot when I was learning motion design to make
this video.

I really enjoy the staticky visuals of a frame-by-frame animation and I thought it would work very well by playing with the analog/ DIY process of making a zine.

I’ve also made some zines of my own, here’s one of them.

Typeface Design, Experimental
Guided by Scott Vander Zee
2025

This was my first time learning Robofont and so like any designer I was very eager to learn how to make my own typeface.

Initially I wanted to make a Sans Serif Fantasy font because I didn’t see a lot of that and since the fantasy genre is so vast- as an anchor  point, I decided to use ‘alice in wonderland’ by C.S. Lewis as my concept for this experimental typeface.

Although, by the time I was kind of done with the typeface, to me it felt uniquely ALICE. Expressing the whimsical, wishy washy, unpredictable, magical, emotional, volatile nature of alice in this far-from-perfect working font.

This was my favourite story growing up and I wished I fell into a rabbit hole.

The brief was to pick a state of mind/mood and create journal covers around them. I wanted to show how it feels to not know yourself. Using quotes from Shakespeare’s Sonnets and Nathaniel Hawthorne’s Scarlet Letter to further push that feeling.

I was playing with the idea of trying on different masks and still not feeling like home in your body.

We were pushed to use ourselves as the subject of these covers for this project. It’s not perfect, but I had so much fun working on this project. I made a haphazard set in my tiny room to take pictures
of myself.

This is my favourite undergrad project because I enjoyed the whole process so much because of how much experimentation was involved. (I also tried Dali’s method of tapping into his unconscious,
during the ideation phase.

Visualising the feeling of being overwhelmed by using recycled materials I had in my apartment (paper, ink, cardboard, plastic, water, dish soap, wrapping paper) and also and a tiny bit of frame by frame 2d animation done on Photoshop. Most of the audio (apart from the static used is composed of noises of these materials

Website Design, Experience DesignStorytelling
2025

The brief was to pick someone/ something and have a conversation with them and present it in whatever medium works best.

Using anthropomorphism, the Andromeda Galaxy was my conversation partner and I wanted to visualise the process of reaching out to the galaxy, making contact, losing signal, messages being translated from audio waves to binary code to the english
language horribly all the while we’re getting to know each other. I was thinking about what does that kind of conversation look like?

If you’re interested in experiencing the rest of the conversation,

This project was inspired by ‘What football will look like in the future‘ this very cool interactive scrolling website by Jon Bois.

As part of my thesis, I explored how we can use graphic design as a method of conserving culture.

Some of the Indian art movements that I explored were, Mughal Miniature paintings, Pichwai, Phad and Gond.

Some elements are there for aesthetic purposes and some to support the storytelling that the movie tells.
I wanted to apply these characteristically different art movements to popular movie posters as a way to gain appreciation for them and push people to want to conserve these beautiful folk art movements.

These book covers are pastiches of works created by Alphonse Mucha, Roy Lichtenstein and Milton Glaser. Illustrated by me.

Website Design
2024

I made this interactive website with the help of Cargo, as part of my thesis where I explored our tendency to overlook our routines and chores that make up a big part of our everyday because it gets associated with femininity.

I added disruptions like the rotating, blinking effects on these mundane objects, as you scroll further down as a way to make it more fun and engaging and also forces you to pay more attention.

Visualising the kind of propaganda that comes out of a society where ink is now a weapon and its use is being strictly restricted.

Graphic Design, Illustration 2021
I did the 36 Days of Type challenge, creating each letter inspired by the concept behind a different artist and album. I also designed a series of posters based on the visual language of each album and its corresponding letterform.
